Why are you going so late in the year? Doesn’t everyone in western WA go somewhere sunny (ex: Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, Arizona, Las Vegas, New England, etc) sometime in middle of the winter? Around Jan-Feb it always seems like half of the people I know are going on a vacation to somewhere they’ll see the sun...

Getting parts for a large mix of vehicles isn’t exactly as easy as on the mainland, so I would imagine less sales diversity makes for more similar purchases, especially when one truck outclasses the rest in durability and reliability. The islands are FULL of 22r engined tacos.

Loved Kauai. Was my honeymoon place.

If you can find it on the south side, Salt Pond beach was quiet, not filled with vacationers, and was one of the few places on the earth where I felt I could recharge.

(It’s got a it of shade there, was really nice)

We rented a 1br plantation cottage in Waimea where they have the farthest west brewpub (any farther becomes the far east so I guess that’s right somehow)

Good breakfast at Grinds cafe. We rented the jeep and saw tonnes of rental mustang verts.

Some local punks like to honk their horns while driving past anyone who pulls over to take pictures, usually while you’re taking the picture and don’t see them coming.

Take off your watch and turn off the phone. Enjoy island time....and the chickens.
